Thursday 10:15 AM: Technical Difficulty

I was having a class, this morning, with a student in Moldova when I suddenly couldn’t send him typed messages — I type to help the student understand me. The sending of messages was disabled by the AI for a bunk reason.  I needed human interaction to restore it.

I have been showing the students that there a lot of ways to use the word “cross”.  It can be used as a verb, noun and adjective.  I used this lesson years ago in China around Easter time.

Orthodox Easter is a week later.

During this time, I’m reading my Gueranger.

There’ll be no grocery shopping today unless I go myself.  The scheduling of my online classes precluded our being able to do it in the afternoon.

The Wheat Kings look done. They’re down three games to none in their best of seven series with Calgary.  That triple overtime loss was a killer.

I asked Weiming Zhao what he was up to and he told me was being interviewed by CBC.

Reading the Gutenberg Galaxy by Marshall McCluhan.  I can now understand what he meant by saying the Medium is the Message.  The Phonetic alphabet, for instance, changed the way we perceive.

Second order thinking.

Tony got his bobble head doll

My son Tony went to Tonight’s Wheat King game.  He was one of the first thousand fans to get a bobble head doll.

Going to an ice hockey game video

 The Wheat Kings lost.

Here is the view from when I left the match:

Community Hockey Rink

I intended to take my son to watch curling at the Brandon Curling Club, which I thought would be busy on the weekend.  The club is conveniently located for us on the Keystone grounds which ain’t far from where we’d at.  However, the club in fact had limited hours and was busy during the week. This I couldn’t wrap my head around: I thought curlers curled on weekends.

Anywho, the Curling Club is adjacent to at least a couple of hockey rinks, so Tony and I watched a bit of a youth hockey game.  The home team came back from a 3-1 deficit to grab the lead.  Tony enjoyed it.

Come on boys!  Skate, skate, skate!

Waiting for Wheat Kings Toques

I do want to buy a toque for winter.  And I would like to get a Wheat Kings Toque. A toque like the cap I have below but in a toquish form with the bright logo and all black.

I had intended to buy a toque earlier, but I ended up buying the cap because the only toques for sale had Pom-poms on them:  fluffy balls sort of thing.  A deal breaker. I guess the toques were left overs from last year’s stock.

This year’s stock of Wheat Kings toques isn’t available yet.  The lady at the Wheat King clothes stores tells me that she has been inquiring with the supplier everyday about when they will come.  And many people in Brandon are waiting for them.

The cap I was able to buy it at a Wheaties game.  I was able to get a discount later when a Wheat King player got a hat trick.  Thirty percent!

BTW, the video that the above pic was screen shot from now has had over 4.4 K views in China.

Any who.  Expect a look-at-me-in-a-Wheat-Kings-toque photo when I have purchased the toque!

Wheat Kings game video

When you think about, you realize that sports are a religion for many people.  They sport the logos of their favorite sect.  The team’s place of play is a shrine…

Wheat Kings Game

The Wheaties are playing the Red Deer Rustlers in an afternoon Remembrance Day match.

There’s a good crowd at the game.

Saturday 7:18 AM View: Wheaties win!

My son attended Friday Night’s Wheat King ice hockey game.  They beat the Vancouver Giants 4-3. Their first victory of the season.

Tony wax proud to say he saw them “Drop the gloves!” for the first time

Sunday 4:51 AM View: Wheaties lose

The Wheat Kings were defeated 5-0 by the Oil Kings last evening.  A frustrating game to watch said my son Tony who attended the game.  The Oil Kings are number one in the WHL power rankings.

And it’s raining outside.

Brandon Wheat Kings Towel

My son Tony & I got this when we went to the game yesterday evening.

The Hockey Game

My son and I went to see the Brandon Wheat Kings play the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Keytone Centre, aka Assiniboine Credit Union Centre.  It was the first game of the season.  It was the first time for my son to a live hockey game.  Tony choose to get seats that were close to the ice.  We were seated near the Wheat Kings bench and while having a good view of our end of the rink, the other end's view was limited by the bench blocking our view.

Tony enjoyed himself.  He was impressed by the speed, the hitting, the puck rattling of the glass and the atmosphere of loud music and constant giveaways and promotions.  He told me, afterward, that he enjoyed hockey more than the soccer/football matches he had seen in China.

Below are some photos I took at the game.  The photo where the Wheat King players are kneeling shows where we were sitting.  Tony can be seen in the photo if you look closely enough.

BTW, the Wheat King lost the game 6-4.  They were down 5-1 at one point, but rallied to make the score 5-4.  Their hopes of tying the game were dashed by an empty net goal.

I made this video for my Chinese channel.  I also posted it to YouTube where it has more views than in China.  Go figure.

Don Cherry’s Autograph

Don Cherry was attending a Wheat King game in the late 1980s.  My brother Ron & I walked up to him and got his autograph.  The best autograph getting experience of my life.

Don Cherry!  What a guy!

We dropped off Jenny at the Airport. Ten hours later, she’s still on the page.
