In my fundraising job, I have people who are nice to me, people who are indifferent, and people who are sceptical.
The latter type will put me on the spot. Yesterday, one gentleman wanted to know if the group I was working for was local. When I told him the group was national and based in BC, he pressed me on how my group supported local people in Rivers. I had to admit I didn’t know; and he walked away in a huff. Sometimes not lying or not being glib doesn’t free you from contempt. I was polite to him when he passed me later.
