Finished Reading
This book is an anthology of NGD’s aphorisms coupled with commentary from the translator. The commentator brings up the idea of Climate Change a little too much for my liking but the volume is a valuable read all the same.

Tony’s School
It’s located on the North Hill of Brandon on what used to be a Mental Hospital.
Monday 6:08 AM
It’s Autumn.
I’ll need more blankets.
Stupid me. Yesterday, I forgot to attach the sign to my table when fundraising. I didn’t notice till the end of my shift when I was packing up to go back to Brandon.
Yesterday, I drank a can of non-alcoholic beer.
I was asked by one of my early morning early rising locutors if I ever slept. Till 5:00 AM, I responded.
Here is some NGD:
- En la fe hay parte que es intuición y parte que es apuesta.
- Faith is part intuition and part wager.

Neepawa
Near the sign, I saw these things:
One of my donors was Filipino. I asked him if he was Catholic. He answered in the affirmative. And he knew Father Oliver…
The Drive to Neepawa
Highway 10 Notth.
I had a crop dusting plane fly right in front of me. I had put my phone down..
If you closely, you can see the plane in this video:
Afterwards, the plane swooped in front of me..
Highway 16 East.
Sunday 9:00 AM Mass
I’m on the left side of the pews this morning.

Driving to Kenton and Driving in Kenton
As I was saying I am having a bit of a free morning. So I can have a nice leisurely to Kenton where I am doing a fund raising shift.
The roads are not great. They could use some resurfacing but the view is calming, pretty, peaceful. Coming from Brandon, there is no direct route with paved roads. The route I took was winding and went North of Kenton before I could get near to the town.
Finally, I got there.
I then drove around.
A dirt road.
A street in the town.
I did talk to a man from Honduras. We agreed there was no such thing as Canadian cuisine. The only thing he could think of was Poutine.
Saturday 6:20 AM
I have a free morning, this morning, until I go to work. I’ll talk to Beijing tomorrow morning.

Friday 7:05 AM: 9/11 anniversary
25th anniversary of 9/11.
The anniversary used to be a big deal but at a certain point I had concluded that whoever was responsible for the attacks had won. America was weakened as a result of them.
I was in Aldergrove, Abbotsford and Hope, British Columbia on that day.
Here is David Warren’s recollection of the day. There is one memory with me that he shared of that day.

Thursday 4:00 PM
Inserting image is working again.
This morning, I signed my contract with the BSD.
This afternoon, I prayed the Rosary for the first time in a while.

Wednesday 5:07 PM
Photo!
I’m trying to upload a photo.
Blogger. Won’t let me. Here’s the link for the photo in X:

The photo seems to appear after I paste it, using my laptop.
Now. Let’s see if I can direct you to a video.
That works. I just watched this video. A good analysis of what is happening in the world.
He’s no fan of Trump or Carney.
I had one Twenix class with a woman living in Spain. She had lived for thirty years in France.
I practiced some Chinese on a clerk. She responded in rapid fire Chinese. I got the gist.
Sign my contract with the BSD tomorrow. Hurray!
Wednesday 6:46 AM
The weather is autumn-like.
I need to prepare for some classes.
I expect that the BSD will start classes today. I don’t know whether to expect work this week.
My nephew is taking part in tunnel-drilling in British Columbia.
Hoping for some Twenix Bookings.
Wendell Berry (all e’s in spelling) died recently. He wrote this:
True solitude is found in the wild places, where one is without human obligation.
I crave solitude. I enjoy the hints I have of it.

Tuesday 2:18 PM
This picture makes the weather appear better than it really is. It’s actually windy and unsettled. By unsettled, I mean the clouds look dirty like they haven’t showered for a couple days. I look at these clouds and I get depressed.
School hasn’t started today in the Brandon School Division. It’s an administration day. So tomorrow. I had assumed it was.
Tony’s ACC has started however. I drove him for his morning to the North Hill campus.
I’m watching this:
This painting reminded me of my past weekend’s driving:
This photo I took has garnered over 7,000 views on WeChat:
50 years ago today
Mao Zedong, aka Chairman Mao died.
Where was I on September 8, 1976? Did I recall where I was when I heard the news? Vaguely. I believe I was in Shilo.
In my time in China, I wondered what Chairman Mao would have thought of the new China. Would he have despised it capitalism? Would he have admired its increase in status?
Many Chinese can remember where they were when they heard the news.
Tuesday 5:45 AM
I can see the moon this morning.
Let us celebrate with joy the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
for from her arose the sun of justice, Christ our God.

Monday 11:20 AM
Rainy Long Weekend Monday.
What to do? No Twenix bookings. Tony wants me to take to a place where he can buy a lock.
I need to be able to concentrate, to focus. Too many things pulling me from what I am trying to do in the instance. God or Reading or Getting Income or Trying to please people in my life or dealing with chores or putting out metaphorical fires or blogging or learning.
NGD: The Soul is man’s task. I should concentrate on that. The rest is details.
Basement Flooding
Someone I know had their basement flood last night because of severe rain.
I had somehow managed to avoid the big rain’s yesterday. In Killarney, the rain was more menacing than actually torrential.
I did see lightning against the back drop of a blue sky. It was strange to behold: the lightning looked like the electric charges you would see in a static globe: the one you would see in a science museum.
Long Weekend Monday 7:30 AM
Feels like early autumn.
I told my two early rising contacts to be up early this day.
I used the coffee machine to make coffee.
I’ve already done my Duolingo daily requirement. I have 28 of the 70 points I need to earn my September challenge badge.
Hopefully, I get a couple Twenix bookings this morning.
In Killarney, I overheard two locals talk about the weather. “It’s harvesting time, so of course it’s raining!”
I meet a Ukranian and Russian in Killarney.
Also dropped into the local Asian store and saw it was run by a Filipino couple. Nice people.

—Our misery proceeds less from our problems than from the solutions which are appropriate for them.

Highway 18 to Ninette and Killarney
I took highway 2 and then Highway 18 to get to Killarney today. Before I had taken highway 23.
These photos don’t do this stretch of road justice, but it was a pretty stretch of road. It was hilly and I came upon the town of Ninette and upon Pelican Lake. Glad I was to have decided to explore it.
Driving in the valley that contained Ninette and Pelican Lake was a soul-elevating experience. To be able to see that valley every day must be a privilege for those who live there year round.
I again spent my time outside in Killarney.
I experienced all kinds of weather.
And I took Highway 18 on the way back to Brandon.
