My reading glasses, one of my rosary beads, and an old sweater.
My father can be seen wearing the sweater in this photo taken with me in the 1990s. I ended up with the sweater when my father sent it to me in a care package which he sent to me in China. The sweater is now back in Brandon. Over the past weekend, I found it in a tub of my brought back from China clothes. I wore the sweater to mass yesterday. It is still in good condition.
The reading glasses I bought at Dollarama: cheap but useful. This morning, I couldn’t find them. I scoured the house. And it annoyed me to no end. But I suddenly spotted them on the floor in my bedroom. They had somehow go stuck on my person. Taking off the old sweater caused them to fall to the ground. Go figure.
The beads I got from a lady in my RCIA. After finally finding the glasses, I decided to pray the Rosary. I thanked God a little for having found the glasses, but I realized as well that prayer is a good way to get away from my small petty issues and concentrate on what is ultimately more important: to transcend worldly concerns.
