Going to the 9:30 AM Mass.
These ladies are praying the Rosary.
So far today, I’ve talked to Beijing, Maple Ridge & Istanbul.
Later, I will talk to Fredericton and Toronto. For a guy who doesn’t get around, I get around.
Nicolás Gómez Dávila said: “The devil is unable to possess a soul that knows how to smile.”
Thomas Aquinas said: “ to desire to be happy is not a matter of free choice.” “ The desire for the ultimate goal is not among the things under our control.”
NGD also said:
“Ideas get scared and emigrate from whence the
decision to think as a team is made.”

An intelligent man soon reaches reactionary
conclusions.
Today, nevertheless, the universal agreement of fools
unnerves him.
When questioned in public, he denies being a Galilean.
But before that we went to the Museum in the basement.
I took a video of its depiction of the 14 stations.
The Museum though small was filled with many interesting things.
These are the crypts of the priests who had served the Lord at Staug.
I loved seeing the Latin.
And then there were these things.
All wonderful to behold.
Doing the 14 stations of the cross, I was overcome with the senses of despair that must have overcame many as Christ was crucified, I will do the 14 stations on my own during Lent.
I have a RCIA meeting tonight.
I have four classes today.
Yesterday, the garage changed my oil, gave the KIA a clean bill of health, and washed it as well. I was reluctant to wash given how messy the streets are.
Reading a book by a Japanese about the beauty of every day things. True beauty is not forced; it comes naturally as a result of necessity.
Canada lost a hockey game that they could easily have won. No big deal.
Got the KIA’s oil changed.
Contemplation is the key to happiness?
It will snow tonight.
Tony’s job hunt ain’t over.
Doing more praying this Lent.
Jenny is coming July 14th. Yesss!!!!
Some hockey game happening. Tried to get my son to watch but he’d rather sleep.
A photo of me with Mark. a helper for our RCIA co-hort.
I saw a bishop in person for the first time:
I got to shake hands with him.
We posed for a group photo.
Shoveling and fasting since Wednesday. This morning, I was shoveling at 5:45 AM. I have been eating less; experiencing hunger pangs.
I’m in this photo with my CNY hoodie.
Warmup.
Swag!
Game on!
The Wheat Kings won 3-2.
In the photo above, you can see one of my rosary beads, my todo list and my quote video notebook.
I will be closing my off quote video notebook through Lent. I will suspend this vanity project, but not before making a video announcing this which is the next item on my todo list!
But the remaining days will be busy. And there will be a winter storm coming.
I can only now watch the video above and see what I have missed. A nice little detail in the video is the sound of fireworks going off in the surrounding environs.
On X, formerly Twitter, I learned it was national flag day in Canada. That’s subject for a rant. When I asked my son to compare the current Canadian flag with this one:
He said the one above was far more attractive. I agree. It has more detail. It was the flag for which Canadian soldiers died in WW1, WW2, and the Korean War. It was also the flag of the country to which my parents immigrated.
The current flag is really a liberal party of Canada tag and thus reminds me another national flag of a another one party state:
Furthermore, the current flag has dead shrubbery as a national symbol, and looks so 1970s..
For sure, the current flag stands out, but these days when the elite of this country are a total embarrassment, I prefer the detailed and subtle elegance of the Red Ensign.
